Dear Friends and Supporters of True North Ministry,

Since 2002, True North Ministry has been led by God to provide hope, encouragement and the life-changing news
of the saving grace of Jesus Christ to area youth. We have primarily ministered to incarcerated youth, but over the
past three school years, we have been involved with an after-school program in inner-city Akron where the youth of
all ages can come to a secure and welcoming Christian environment.

Over the years, we have seen the lives of many boys and girls impacted for the better as they come to know that
despair can be replaced with hope and doubt can be turned into confidence and self-worth. When they accept
salvation through Jesus into their hearts, they gain a greater understanding of what true life is.

Each year, except during the pandemic of COVID-19, we have held an annual banquet to celebrate the successes
that God has provided to us, announce where the ministry is headed over the next 12+ months, and bring the
community together to join us in our efforts. In doing so, we have been able to raise funds needed to
continue our work in the community and hopefully grow and help more kids come to know Christ as their Lord
and Savior. This year, we have decided to forego having the banquet and instead approach you with a direct
request to prayerfully consider giving to True North Ministry.

Our plans for the next twelve months include continuing both aspects of our ministry to area youth:

  • Incarcerated Youth Ministry – In July 2023 we began ministry at the Indian River Correctional facility and
will regularly minister to the approximately 160 – 180 youth who are incarcerated there. We will be
coming alongside the Indian River Chaplain to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and provide bible teaching
to these youth. As this aspect of the ministry grows, we will likely be expanding to provide mentoring and
other help to prepare these youth for life after release.
  • Accelerate After School Program – This ministry will continue our very successful ministry to between 20
    – 30 youths in the North Hill area of Akron. We will be providing food, homework assistance, fun,
acceptance, and the knowledge of Jesus through Bible devotionals and prayer. The City of Akron would
like us to expand to other areas of Akron as soon as we have sufficient financial and volunteer resources
to start up and sustain these other locations. We are currently seeking additional volunteers to work with the youth involved in this program. If you
are interested (or know someone who may be), please contact our program director, Julie Buckeye, at
330-701-7986 or [email protected] and she will provide information about becoming a part of this
    ministry (see enclosed flyer).

Presently, True North Ministry operates with a very limited budget — $33 thousand for 2023. These funds are
used for:

  • Programs (62%)
  • Administration including one part-time employee (28%)
  • Fundraising and other requirements (10%).

We are asking that you join us by prayerfully considering financially partnering with True North Ministry so that we
can continue our ministry to incarcerated and at-risk youth in the Akron area. Please rest assured that every dollar
donated to this ministry will be carefully controlled and spent specifically for the purpose of reaching area youth
with the gospel of Jesus Christ and helping them to grow in their faith. Virtually every person involved in this
ministry is an unpaid volunteer which helps us minimize the operating costs and maximize our outreach.
We appreciate your consideration about how you can help us continue and grow this ministry by giving a one-
time gift or monthly donation during our fall fundraising initiative from September 1 to November 30, 2023, to
help these youth in our community become and grow to be godly, responsible, and caring citizens and leaders of
tomorrow.
