Farm visits have officially started back up. Youth from Cuyahoga Hills are coming the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month. Youth from Indian River are visiting every Monday. Visits have kept the boys busy with repairing fence lines, maintaining equipment up-keep, mowing the campus and fields, and trimming the fence line.
As the weather gets colder, we will be transitioning from outdoor maintenance to indoor jobs in our workshop, including wood working projects and equipment repairs.
We would really like to get Cuyahoga Hills coming weekly as well. True North Ministry is in need of additional volunteers willing to come and spend a half day working with the youth. A day at the farm may look like:
10 to 10:15 a.m. – Welcome youth to the farm
10:15 a.m. to noon – Hands on tasks (Summer and Fall – mowing the lawn, weed eating, weeding flower beds, painting fence, etc. For winter, wood shop, resume writing, job interviewing practice, researching potential careers/education, etc.)
Noon to 1 p.m. – Lunch/home economics. We have a full kitchen, so the youth prepare the food with adult supervision. Clean up is a part of this time as well
1 p.m. – 2 p.m. – Fellowship/Prayer (bible study, devotional, character building based on Biblical principles, etc.)
2 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. – Optional: Craft project, physical training, additional project work around the farm, or movie excerpts for discussion of character issues
