Bill has been involved with True North Ministry (TNM) for the last 13+ years. He heard about TNM through some friends at church. They shared their excitement about what God is doing in the ministry and he decided to check out a Sunday morning service at Dan Street Detention Center. He decided to become a volunteer immediately after being so blessed by the experience.
Bill volunteers at Dan Street once a week for their Sunday morning service. He shared there are typically 3 or four boys’ units and one girl’s unit they minister to. Their group divides up, so each unit is ministered to. They meet for about an hour and share their testimonies, share from God’s word and pray with the youth. They share the love of Christ with the youth and let them know that God has a plan for their lives.
Bill reported he feels completely blessed by being a part of TNM which makes it easy to stay involved. Seeing the youths’ interest to learn about Christ’s plan for their lives and what a difference it can make. Bill shared seeing youth accept Christ as their savior and begin a new walk of faith has been a huge blessing as well.
One challenge Bill shared is he can see a need to be more involved in mentoring and working with the youth post release. He feels by doing so, the youth could stay on the right path.
Bill stated he feels God provides opportunities for us to serve Him in many ways and we have to choose which way we will serve. The happiest times of his life is serving where he feels led.
